Nursing assessment for routine foot care consists of a through inspection of your feet. This includes testing for sensation, blood flow and range of motion. Skin and nails are also assessed as well as looking for any corns, calluses and fissures on the feet to identify problems and how to provide safe, comfortable foot care that is personalized to you.

We look closely at the nail integrity, shape, thickness, and growth patterns.
Care is taken to cut nails to a length that promotes healthy, comfortable feet.
We carefully trim and file toenails to help reduce discomfort, support better shoe fit, and promote healthy feet.

Gentle trimming and careful thinning of thick nails may be needed to help improve comfort, reduce pressure, and support healthy feet.
Identification of the cause combined with gentle paring of corns and calluses promote comfort, mobility and balance while keeping you moving safe and pain free.

Our nurses do diabetic foot assessments with every visit. Including testing for neuropathy, vascular issues and structural changes that are often seen with diabetic feet. Our nurses take the time to educate clients and families on findings and interventions needed to promote healthy feet and improve the quality of life for diabetics.

Your nurse will begin by reviewing a brief health history and talking with you about any foot concerns. A careful foot and lower leg assessment is completed, including the skin, nails, circulation, sensation, areas of pressure, calluses, corns, and overall foot comfort.
Routine foot care may include toenail trimming and filing, gentle thinning of thick nails when needed, callus and corn care, and moisturizing care for dry skin. Your nurse will also share observations and helpful guidance to support comfort, safety, and ongoing foot health.
Home visits typically take 75–90 minutes. Clinic visits are approximately 45 minutes.
Spa and salon pedicures are typically focused on relaxation and appearance. For some people, that may be appropriate. However, seniors and individuals with diabetes, circulation concerns, fragile skin, thick nails, or changes in sensation may benefit from a more cautious, nurse-led approach.
Beachside Foot & Nail provides professional routine foot care with attention to skin condition, nail care, comfort, shoe fit, and areas of concern. Our focus is foot health, safety, and helping clients feel comfortable and confident.
Service fees vary depending on the type of visit. Clinic appointments are typically more affordable because they are offered at a set location, such as senior communities, centers, or assisted living facilities. In-home visits are priced higher because they include travel time, convenience, and one-on-one care in the comfort of your home.
Our services are priced with seniors and families in mind, and we are happy to discuss the best option for your needs when scheduling.
A properly trained foot care nurse should have a current nursing license and specialized education in routine foot and nail care. This may include advanced foot care training, certification, continuing education, or references related to their experience.
At Beachside Foot & Nail, care is provided by podiatry-trained and foot care certified registered nurses who specialize on safe, gentle, and professional foot care for seniors.
A podiatrist diagnoses and treats medical conditions of the foot and ankle. Beachside Foot & Nail provides nurse-led routine foot and nail care for seniors, either in the home or in a community setting.
Our services include foot assessments, toenail trimming, thick nail care, callus and corn care, skin observation, shoe comfort guidance, and routine foot care education. We do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or replace care from your podiatrist or physician.
If we notice something that may need medical attention, we will let you know so you can follow up with the appropriate healthcare provider.
We follow careful infection prevention practices at every visit. Disposable supplies are used one time only, and reusable instruments are cleaned and processed after each client according to professional standards.
We carry enough instruments so each client receives care with their own clean set of tools. Cleanliness, safety, and comfort are an important part of our nurse-led foot care.

Foot health is connected to overall health. A brief medical history helps your nurse provide safe, personalized routine foot care based on your individual needs.
Conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, circulation concerns, or changes in sensation can affect the feet and may require extra attention. Some medications can also affect the skin and nails, making nails more brittle, thickened, discolored, or difficult to trim.
Understanding your health history helps your foot care nurse provide thoughtful care, share helpful education, and recognize when follow-up with a podiatrist or healthcare provider may be needed.
